Birding Basics, Kids Activities, Food & More!

Wildlife vendors and professional birders will provide educational resources and instruction on everything from buntings to binoculars -- feeders to flickers and more! Join in the fun at the Childrens Activity Center and have your face painted like a pinewoods bird, then explore many hands-on activities & games. The Endangered Species Experience

Share an experience of a lifetime with your child! Travel through the old pine forests of Pebble Hill Plantation with a wildlife biologist guide to get the chance to view one of Georgias rarest birds, the endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker. Be sure not to miss this exciting wildlife viewing opportunity!

Experience Georgias other colorful winged wildlife - butterflies! Visit with the Butterfly Lady of southwest Georgia and learn more about our fluttering friends while spending time in the beautifully landscaped butterfly gardens on the grounds at Pebble Hill Plantation. Browse through the Plant Sale while professionals demonstrate how to create the perfect bird and butterfly friendly habitat in your own backyard.

Georgia's Best Singer

While winding through a mature longleaf pine forest, visitors may hear the beautiful song of the Bachman's Sparrow - Georgia's Best Singer - and see many other specialty birds in the habitats of the pinewoods. Early spring offers a chance to see local breeding birds as well as migratory birds that are preparing to head further north. Enjoy great viewing opportunities to see anything from bluebirds and buntings to barred owls and bobwhite quail. Special tours will be provided throughout the day by the Georgia DNR and Tall Timbers Research Station biologists.
