The Nongame-Endangered Wildlife Program coordinates a number of bird conservation, research and monitoring projects, which depends upon other DNR staff, agency collaborators, and dedicated volunteers to help accomplish these projects. The Citizen Science Newsletter provides updates and information to those already volunteering and others who may be potentially interested in assisting with these important programs. In this newsletter, we also would like to recognize and thank those who have participated in many of these projects.

Our efforts include completing the Breeding Bird Atlas, increasing the number of Breeding Bird Survey routes statewide, priority species surveys, improving habitat management for birds, and habitat management research. Each of these efforts will be expanded upon in this newsletter. Our goal is to get two letters out per year. One reviewing the goals accomplished during the previous field season, and another gearing up for the new field season.
