Request for Auction DonationsDear Potential Weekend for Wildlife Donor, The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division is once again gearing up for the annual Weekend for Wildlife benefit. All of the proceeds from this event support the Nongame Conservation Section and its critical conservation projects for our states nongame and endangered wildlife. This past February, the Weekend for Wildlife raised over $850,000 for the Nongame Conservation Section! With your help, we can achieve our goal of raising even more for Georgias wildlife in 2008 at the 20th anniversary celebration. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Nongame Conservation Section receives no state funding to carry out its initiatives such as bald eagle restoration, North Atlantic right whale recovery, and environmental education grants for our states schools and nature centers. The funds needed for these and many other worthwhile projects come primarily from fund-raising efforts like the Weekend for Wildlife. That is why your generous support is critical in helping us continue to conserve, manage and protect Georgia's nongame and endangered wildlife. We would be honored to receive any donation you may offer to make the 20th anniversary auction more successful. This coming years special event will be held February 8-9, 2008 at the premiere resort, The Cloister at Sea Island. Beginning with a magnificent Friday evening cocktail reception and the opening of our silent auction, the weekend is highlighted on Saturday evening with a fabulous Cloister-cuisine banquet and verbal auction where the bidding is fierce! In 2008, the Weekend for Wildlife will celebrate twenty years of success and a few special touches will be added in hopes of making this 20th anniversary event even more spectacular. Some of the intriguing items already committed for the auction include exclusive island excursions, handcrafted jewelry, coastal fishing expeditions, autographed collectables, and original artwork. If it is possible for you to contribute one or more items to the Weekend for Wildlife auction, please complete the Auction Item Donation Form and return the top copy to the address below by December 31, 2007. (Arrangements can be made for pick-up and delivery of your donation at a later date). All donations will be presented in the most favorable fundraising arrangement at The Cloister and sold during the event. Donations could appear in the silent auction showcase or the popular T.E.R.N. Marketplace, sponsored by The Environmental Resources Network, Inc. (T.E.R.N.) friends group of the Nongame Conservation Section. All auction donors will be given recognition at the event, which is attended by more than 400 prominent guests and sponsors, along with the opportunity to display their work, brochures and business cards in the auction. We would like to thank you for your consideration in contributing to the 20th anniversary Weekend for Wildlife. This event would not be a continued success without the dedicated support of private individuals and businesses like you. Please feel free to call me with any questions (229) 227-5422, or visit additional links on our website for further information on this exciting event. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Kitty E. Spivey Ron Lee, President
