Attention, K-5 Teachers!

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), The State Botanical Garden of Georgia and The Environmental Resources Network, Inc. (TERN) encourage you and your students to participate in the 27th annual Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest!  As part of DNR and TERN's "Kids For Conservation" initiative, this popular art contest provides a unique opportunity for students to explore the wonders of Georgia’s native plant and animal species through the 2016-17 theme: Keep Georgia WILD!

Do you enjoy hearing the melodies of songbirds, watching the antics of wildlife or photographing delicate wildflowers?  Wild animals and native plants enrich our lives and serve special roles in the environment.  Our quality of life depends on how well we conserve all species, great and small, and their habitats.  To make sure all species survive and stay healthy, natural resource agencies and organizations follow the State Wildlife Action Plan, a guide on how to best conserve wildlife and their habitats before they become too rare or too costly to protect.

The goal of the Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest is to generate a greater knowledge and appreciation of Georgia's diverse and increasingly threatened wildlife and their habitats. It is only a deep concern and commitment to these wild places that will ensure their existence for future generations to enjoy.

We look forward to working with you and your students at the 27th annual Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest! Full contest details are included in the contest brochure below.
