Designed with everything outdoors in mind, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division’s summer archery camps aim to educate and engage adventurous youth. Registration is now open for two camps, beginning in June.
“Archery camp is a great experience for campers with lots of fun-filled outdoor adventures,” says Matt Stewart, shooting sports program coordinator. “This is a great opportunity to develop archery skills and to expose children to some of the exciting outdoor opportunities around them.”
Campers should expect constant activity, including target practice, fishing, outdoor exploration, wildlife identification and hunter safety presentations. Two upcoming camps include one at Laura S. Walker State Park in Waycross (June 5-7) and one at Wynfield Plantation in Albany (June 19-21). More camps are planned and will be listed on the WRD website as arrangements develop.
Archery camps are intended for youth ages 9-14 and on average cost $50 per camper. To register, an archery camp registration packet must be completed and turned in along with payment.
