2012 Partners Meeting
FWP partners Georgia Power, Plum Creek and Wells Timberland met May 22, 2012, with Wildlife Resources Division staff about the program at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center near Mansfield.
The session covered topics varying from pine savanna and the Wildlife Resources’ Bobwhite Quail Initiative to the State Wildlife Action Plan. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials explained agreements aimed at teaming with landowners to manage for rare species. A separate discussion focused on how partners could work with the state to conserve gopher tortoises, a candidate species for listing under the Endangered Species Act.
Partners also checked out two forest management sites at Clybel Wildlife Management Area.
