Any licenses purchased may be replaced free of charge here.

I am disabled. How do I get a free hunting and/or fishing license?

To qualify for a free hunting and fishing license for the disabled, you must complete a Disability License application form (available from any WRD office - contact us online or call 800-366-2661) and send it to the WRD License Unit, along with certification from the Social Security Administration, the Veterans administration, the Railroad Retirement Board or some other governmental entity which certifies disability. Your disability must be both permanent and total. Partial disabilities do not qualify. The disability license is good for three years, and then must be renewed with proof of continuing disability.

Disability is defined, for licensing purposes, as being unable to hold gainful employment because of a physical or mental impairment.

I am a senior citizen. How do I get a free hunting and/or fishing license?

Senior citizen licenses, called Honorary Sportsman's License, are available for Georgia residents 65 years of age and older. The Honorary Sportsman's License covers everything, including small and big game hunting and saltwater, freshwater and trout fishing. You can get an Honorary Sportsman's License here or at any license dealer, such as Wal-mart, K-mart, bait and tackle stores, many convenience stores, etc.

Why do I have to provide my Social Security number in order to buy a license?

Both federal and state law requires anyone buying any kind of license (commercial, recreational, occupational) to provide his or her Social Security number (SSN) prior to the purchase of the license. The law is in place in order to enhance enforcement of nationwide child support laws. The federal law was passed in 1996. The Georgia law passed in 2003. Failure to provide a SSN makes you ineligible to purchase a license. SSNs will only be released to the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

What is a Lifetime Sportsman's License and why can't I purchase it online?

A lifetime license allows the purchaser to enjoy a lifetime worth of hunting and fishing privileges in the State of Georgia. It covers all hunting and fishing license requirements except for the Federal Duck Stamp. Download a Lifetime Sportsman's License application and mail or hand-delivered it to one of our offices. The Lifetime Sportsman's License is not available online because of strict residency and age documentation requirement.

I purchased my license online a few days ago, but could not print it due to printer problems. Now I cannot access the license to print it. What should I do?
