Georgia's Conservation Tax Credit ProgramNEW FOR 2006! Preliminary Eligibility & Purpose: In 2006 the Georgia legislature passed House Bill 1107, the Georgia Conservation Tax Credit Program. For land conservation purposes, this program provides a state income tax credit for (1) fee simple donations of property or (2) conservation easements to a Qualified Organization. These efforts will help protect agricultural and natural ecosystem landscapes, such as forest lands, throughout Georgia. Management Available: The tax credit provided is 25 percent of the fair market value of the donated property, not to exceed $250,000 for individual landowners or $500,000 for corporate landowners, which can be applied over a six-year period. *How to Get Started: Visit the Georgia Department of Natural Resources website at www.gadnr.org and follow the link on the left side of the page or call 770-761-3035.
