Can you think of a better way to spend a weekend than hunting with a kid? Join the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division for a weekend of family fun at the new “Hunt and Learn” program at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (Mansfield, GA) on May 13-15, 2011. This event is part of a series of Advanced Hunter and Aquatic Education weekend programs offered by the Division focusing on hunting and fishing skills and conservation knowledge.
Children, ages 17 and under and their supervisors are invited to stay for the weekend, hunt the property and participate in a variety of skills based and conservation programs for the low price of $60 per person. This includes overnight accommodations, meals and program fees.
“The ‘Hunt and Learn’ weekend will focus on hunter education, hunting and classes – participants can even join in the fun JAKES Day activities taking place on site that weekend,” said Rusty Garrison, CEWC Program Manager. “This is an incredibly affordable opportunity to really teach a child the basics of hunting turkey, help them learn more about conservation and enjoy a wonderful outdoors experience together.”
Adults and children over 16 must possess appropriate hunting licenses to participate (see state hunting regulations at www.gohuntgeorgia.com [1]). Pre-registration is required. The deadline for registration is May 10, 2011.
