A popular shooting range at Hannahatchee Wildlife Management Area, located near Richland in Stewart County, will temporarily close to make some needed repairs, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division. Repair work includes renovating the range to increase the height of the berms at the rifle range due to safety concerns.
The Hannahatchee WMA Shooting Range will be closed for approximately three to four weeks, beginning Monday, Aug. 22, 2011. The range is expected to re-open in mid-to-late September.
Hannahatchee WMA shooting range includes a 175-yard shooting range and a 35-yard handgun-only range. Users of this range looking for the next closest area will need to visit either the Chickasawhatchee WMA shooting range (Dougherty County) or the Mayhaw WMA range (Miller County).
